Who we are
memplant apps are published by Datamine Lab SIA, Riga, Latvia ("we"). This policy covers the apps and tools listed on this site. Questions go to the address on the contact page.
None of our apps have accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking. We don't sell or share data, because we don't have any to sell or share.
HN Glance (Even G2)
What the app collects
Nothing. The app sends no data about you, your glasses or your phone to us or anyone else.
Network permission
This is the app's only permission. It downloads public files from hn.memplant.com: the current story list, article text and comments. It never uploads anything.
Server logs
hn.memplant.com is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare may record standard request data such as your IP address and the time of the request, under its own privacy policy. We don't use this data to identify anyone, and we don't combine it with anything else.
Stored on your phone
Your comment-count setting and the last story list are saved on your phone so the app works offline. They never leave the device, and uninstalling the app removes them.
Where the content comes from
Stories and comments come from the public Hacker News API. Article text is fetched from publishers' public pages once an hour, and we respect robots.txt: sites that disallow fetching are not fetched. Publishers can ask for removal on the contact page.
Keys on the Wire (kow)
kow is open-source software (Apache-2.0) that you run on your own machine. It collects no telemetry, and there is no hosted service. Its only outbound connections are to the secret vault you configure and the APIs your agent already calls. We never see your keys, your traffic or your usage. The optional Bitwarden backend uses Bitwarden's SDK and is subject to Bitwarden's terms.
Laima
Laima is open-source and self-hosted. The phone app talks only to the Laima bridge that you run on your own machine, normally over your private network. We operate no Laima server and receive nothing from it.
What leaves your machine depends on how you set it up:
- Local mode: speech recognition and voice run on your machine. No audio leaves it.
- ElevenLabs mode: recorded audio and reply text go to ElevenLabs, using your own API key, under ElevenLabs' privacy policy.
- The AI itself: your requests go to whichever AI service your own setup uses (for example Anthropic for Claude), under that provider's terms.
The Laima command-line tool has no accounts, no cloud component and no telemetry.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. For our apps the answer is almost always "none", but we will check and reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija).
Changes
If an app starts handling data differently, we will update this page before that version ships, and change the date at the top.
